GOLDEN RETRIEVER CLUB OF WALES TRAINING CLUB ACHIEVEMENTS 2007
Kennel Club Good Citizens Awards
6th October 2007 at Penyrheol Community Centre
In previous years these awards have been held on a training club night. This year the Puppy Foundation and Bronze Good Citizen Awards were held on a Saturday, to give the participants the time and space to concentrate on the exercises which would hopefully take them through the awards, and on to the next stages. The day went well with five entries on the Puppy Foundation, and three on the Bronze. Carol Miles is the trainer, but unfortunately was unable to attend due to ill health, although she is now recovering and back at class. Gwyneth Evans judged the awards, with Frankie Prosser as the steward seeing the puppies and young dogs through their paces.
The day however, did not go as planned! Unfortunately one of the puppies Blake was injured and unable to attend, but I am pleased to tell you that he is recovering well and Angela is back at training with him, but Blake will be taking it easy for a little while! The remaining four puppies did well, that they went on to complete the Bronze award on the same day. They joined three other young dogs to take their Bronze and again all participants did extremely well, although one or two wanted a little coaxing before they would show the judge how good they can be! It will take a little while for them to reach the requirements of the Silver Award as they are still very young, but they are all well on the way! The next event in the New Year will be the Silver and Gold Awards. Watch the notice board for dates.

Royvon Training School - Exemption Dog Show - 12 May 2007
This was an extremely good day for all who attended - especially those from the GRCW training club....Gwyneth, we didn't let you down!! The aim of the day was to raise money for nominated charities. Aside from the obedience and show rings, Royvon arranged a special novelty class judged by the designer Julian MacDonald. Bouncy castles for the children, craft stalls and for those eager to learn, grooming and behavioural talks were available. Despite the rain, several members from the training club attended and I think they will agree it was a fun day!! Thank you Gwyneth & Royvon and all those who supported.
